Volunteer

As a community-based public charter school, Irvington Community School, Inc. relies heavily upon parental involvement in many ways. Along with partnering with parents in stewarding their children’s educational development, ICS encourages parents to work with us as volunteers as an expectation of being part of our school community. Such involvement also models the way for our students for them to become more engaged members of our school community – above and beyond simply attending school. This spirit of community contributes in untold ways to the development of well-rounded children – which is why we are very proud to be known as Irvington Community Schools.

Volunteering should never be a one-sided affair: we benefit from your involvement, and you volunteer in an area that brings you personal satisfaction. Our school community has many opportunities for volunteering – and some that you can bring to the table. ICS has need of volunteers in the classroom – both during the school day and with extracurricular clubs – on fieldtrips, at fundraisers and special events, and for campus grounds beautification. Notably, three major events throughout the school year – the ICS Open golf outing, Ravens Ride (motorcycle benefit ride), and the Pennsy Pedal (a bicycling-oriented “friendraiser”) – can always use volunteer involvement, whether serving on planning committees or helping out during the actual events. As well, our schools’ music programs welcome parent volunteers to assist with musical performances.

Finally, ICS student-athletes and coaches always appreciate seeing our fans in the stands. We encourage parents to attend our athletic contests to show your Raven Pride!
