Our goal with the clubs is for children to engage one another with shared interests in subjects outside of the curriculum they experience throughout the school day.

Variety Show Draws an Audience of Nearly 200

The Irvington Preparatory Academy's Annual Variety Show, held Friday, February 3, 2012, at the Irvington Community Elementary School, featured 13 acts showcasing a plethora of talents.

A number of singers were featured, including Rae’Jean Pendleton, who wrote an original song and accompanied herself on the piano. The audience was also treated to a comedy routine, dance performance, slam poet, and a several instrumentalists on piano and violin. Some of the performers were members of IPA’s inaugural Piano and Electronic Keyboard Class.

The “Audience Favorite Award” was given to IPA Junior Geno Jones, who performed two poems by Langston Hughes and an original slam poetry piece entitled “Chasing My Dreams.” 

The Variety Show was run by the 44 members of the Choir Department. All proceeds from the ticket and concession sales went to support the Music Department. Nearly 200 people attended the event.
