Move ‘n’ Groove-a-thon Set for Saturday, May 30th
You don’t want to miss the “wild and crazy” Irvington STUCO (Student Council) Move ‘n’ Groove-a-thon fundraising event in the ICS Gym on Saturday, May 30th, from 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. – and that's no misprint!
Proceeds from the 11-hour Move ‘n’ Groove-a-thon will help support future ICS community service and social events, as well as the American Heart Association. The point of this first-time school event is, you’ve got to keep moving – and grooving! – in some way for a continuous period of time. ICS students, staff, parents, and friends are invited to participate and seek pledges. While you’re moving, there will be many other activities going on each hour, such as limbo and pie-eating contests (with prizes). And if you think you know your music, sports, games, and/or ICS history, be sure to try out the Trivia Challenge – while your feet keep moving, of course! STUCO is hoping the Move 'n' Groove-a-thon is successful enough to become an ICS tradition. With your help, we'll make that happen.
And by the way, if movin' and groovin' isn't your style, a variety show will take place later that evening, open to school community members who have the urge to show their hidden talents. Please note: You don’t have to be a participant in the Move ‘n’ Groove-a-thon to participate in the variety show.
Rules- 1. Participants may start collecting pledges as soon as they receive the pledge sheets. Reminder: Pledge sheets need to be turned in to ICS by May 29th or brought to the Move 'n' Groove-a-thon on May 30th.
- 2. Pledges may be made by anyone; however, participants are asked to refrain from requesting pledges from any ICS staff members.
- 3. Each sponsor making a pledge should write his/her own name, email or phone number, and pledge amount per hour (or flat rate) if possible. After the event, participants will be given pledge cards (see link below) stating how many hours they moved and instructions for how to make payments. These pledge cards will then be passed on to the individual sponsors to be returned with the payments.
- 4. Special incentive prizes will be given to the ICS students who collect the highest percentage of their pledged amount of money.
We look forward to all our participants having a great time while serving a great cause! If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, email or call at 357-5359. And about volunteering...
ATTENTION PARENTS:We could really use some volunteers for this event (and it's a great way to put some hours in toward the 20-hours-per-family commitment each of our ICS families make at the beginning of each school year – time's a wastin'!). Needs include: judging to make sure participants keep moving, working the concession stand, helping organize the variety acts, shopping for food and other supplies, or asking local businesses for donated items such as free food coupons (this is a key need). Also, if you own or work at a business that might be able to offer appropriate prize items, please let us know. An event planning meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27th, at the ICS. So if you're interested and available, please attend the meeting or contact . We look forward to movin' and groovin' with you!
