ICS Artists Win Big (Again) in “Symphony in Color 2010”

It's becoming something of a habit.

Last year, Irvington had a slew of award-winning art in the "Symphony in Color 2009" contest. This year was no different.

An estimated 23,000 students representing 37 Indiana counties participated in the 59th annual "Symphony in Color" contest. During the first-round judging, the competition was narrowed from 540 entrants (from 90 schools) to 100 Finalists. (Each school can only submit one entry per grade.) During the second and final round, a new panel of three judges selected the 36 Blue Ribbon Winners from the 100 Finalists. Irvington Community School finished strongly once again, with five Finalists and two Blue Ribbon Winners. Congratulations go to:

  • Noah Serviss, first grade, Finalist and Blue Ribbon Winner
  • Elijah Huffman, second grade, Finalist
  • Vivian Lettner, third grade, Finalist
  • Robert Edwards, fourth grade, Finalist
  • Eva Watson, fifth grade, Finalist and Blue Ribbon Winner
  • (Mrs. Stuckey, you're quite the maestro!)

Our Blue Ribbon Winners’ artwork will be on exhibit at the Hilbert Circle Theatre from February 22nd - March 29th, 2010. All of our Finalists’ artwork will be on exhibit at the Indiana State Museum from April 4th - May 9th, 2010.
