Irvington Community Middle School (ICMS) offers Band (instrumental music) and Choir to students during the school day. During the start of the 2020-2021 school year, our longtime Band Director, Mr. Wingett, has creatively customized our students’ instrumental music experiences through virtual master classes and lessons as well as a focus on percussive, music-reading experiences. Band is a performance-based class in which students are expected to perform at a variety of events throughout the year. This class is designed to give students the opportunity to study appropriate instrumental techniques, as well as a number of different skills pertaining to instrumental performance. Band classes are split by grade level and are taught by Mr. Jimmy Wingett. For more information on the ICMS Band class, please contact Mr. Wingett.

Ms. Beyers, ICMS Director of Choirs, has continued to teach choir through virtual experiences and performances during the 2020-2021 school year while taking the opportunity to expand and explore other areas of music with students including music-reading, composing, and musical topics from around the world like the TikTok craze of sea shanties. Choir is a performance-based class where students are expected to prepare and perform throughout a school year. This class is designed to expose students to music and choral singing fundamentals while encouraging in-class and self-driven exploration of worldwide musical genres. Choir classes are divided by grade level and taught by Ms. Beyers. For more information on the ICMS Choir class, please contact Ms. Beyers.
